Charity and Community Outreach

In 2025, Prior Park College raised a total of £28,265.49 for charity. 

Charity

Each year, the whole school community votes for an annual charity to support. Past beneficiaries have included organisations such as Macmillan, Bath & Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Stand, Loving Humanity, and others close to the College’s heart. In the 2024/25 academic year, Prior Park College raised £13,499.10 for Wiltshire & Bath Air Ambulance.

Charities Week takes place each spring and is a highlight of the school calendar, bringing the entire community together to raise as much as possible for our chosen charity. The week is packed with fun and creative events, including car washes, sponge-throwing at teachers, staff karaoke, bake sales, and the ever-popular pillow fighting.

One of our co-curricular options is the Prior Park College Charities Committee. Made up of students and led by our staff and student Heads of Charities, the committee meets weekly to plan events and explore new fundraising opportunities, ensuring there is always something exciting on the horizon.

In addition to our main charity, we support a wide range of other causes throughout the academic year, including Amnesty International and CAFOD.

A key moment in the year is our CAFOD Day, when students and staff choose a simpler lunch in solidarity with those who have less, helping to raise awareness. Funds saved by the catering department are donated directly to the charity.

We are also proud of the students and staff who take on the Bath Half Marathon each year, raising money for a different charity alongside our annual partnership.

Community Outreach

Community outreach is an integral part of the Prior Park ethos. We organise and participates in a variety of outreach events and programmes throughout the year, both on and off site.

During the summer term, the College hosts several activities for local primary school children to take part in. These include STEM Days, Art projects, and Introduction to Tennis sessions, run in conjunction with Team Bath Tennis. All are hugely enjoyable and inspiring events, with up to 100 school children attending per day.

Sixth Form students from St Gregory's Bath are invited to experience our annual Sixth Form Inspire Conference, where speakers from all walks of life - Olympic medallists, entrepreneurs, motivational speakers, creative gurus, charities, etc - address students with their inspirational stories. Students from St Gregory's and other Bath schools are also invited to join Prior students for mock Oxbridge interviews, Bath Student Parliament discussions, Medical Society lectures, and University or Gap Year Fairs.

Prior's Music department is also involved with many community events in and around Bath. These range from visiting local primary schools to run workshops and giving concerts, to playing at local festivals and participating in Bath Festivals' Schools Voices.

In addition, Prior Park works with St John's Foundation, a community focused charity working across Bath and North East Somerset.  One of the Charity's aims is 'Narrowing the attainment gap for Key Stage 2 children in Bath and North East Somerset'. Prior works with St John's to provide a variety of opportunities for these children, such as the annual Be Inspired Netball Day. The day includes tasks and games that are designed to educate, support wellbeing, develop teamwork skills and self-efficiency, as well as build confidence. Team Bath Netball provide the activities.
