- Peripatetic Teacher of Singing - Bath
Teacher of Latin / Classical Civilisation - Bath
Temporary - Immediate start - Full Time or Part Time
Opportunity for inspirational Classics specialist to teach Latin and Classical Civilisation on a temporary basis to cover a period of rolling illness for immediate start with no specific end date.
It is the aim of the Classics Department to make available the study of Classics to every student willing and able to benefit from it; to facilitate the highest possible standards of Classical scholarship, and to present to each student a course of study appropriate to his or her aptitudes. The department’s policy is to combine the best of traditional and modern teaching methods and to appraise current practice continually.
Latin is started in Year 7 and is taught throughout the school. At present the Cambridge Latin Course is used in the lower year groups, with a transition to more traditional linguistic learning for those who opt to pursue the subject to GCSE level, for which there is a steady intake of enthusiastic students. The Eduqas syllabus is currently used for GCSE and OCR for Advanced Level, which likewise attracts a number of well motivated Sixth Formers. The aim is to teach the subject in a way that goes beyond the syllabus and raises issues that are linguistic, cultural and historical.
Classical Civilisation is a popular choice for both GCSE and A level, and it also follows the OCR syllabus. At GCSE stage the subject is a liberating force for a number of lively students and prepares them well for the A level, which itself is intended to be both a study that is part of the liberal education offered by Prior Park College and also a preparation, if desired, for a Classical Studies course at a university.
Greek is taught, at present beyond the curriculum, to a small number of able students.
There are two full-time teachers of Classics (one of whom is the Head of Department) and one part-time teacher. The Department has its own area in well-appointed classrooms with good facilities.
We offer excellent and supportive working conditions with an attractive rewards package to include free lunch and free onsite parking plus use of onsite gym.
The role will commence on completion of successful pre-employment checks. A portable DBS would be useful.

Teacher of Physics with KS3 leadership opportunity - Bath
Permanent - Full or Part Time - Start September 2025
Our flourishing Science Department has a fantastic opportunity for a passionate subject teacher to teach Physics at all age ranges up to A-Level, working with other teachers, tutors and parents as needed to ensure their students make excellent progress at our popular boarding and day school.
For exceptional applicants this role also offers a KS3 leadership opportunity.
The Science Faculty comprises a close knit, experienced team of some 12 teachers and 4 technicians across three departments: Physics, Chemistry and Biology, each of which is led by a Head of Department, whom are operationally managed by the Head of Science.
Physics is a successful and popular subject at all year groups, regularly supporting two full groups in each year at A-Level (currently following the OCR-A specification). The department is extremely well resourced, accommodated across three laboratories and is supported by its own prep room and technician. We are academically ambitious for our students, passionate about enthusing our subject, value its role within a coherent understanding of science and enjoy working as a team.
The Science curriculum - At the start of the school in Lower 3 and Form 3 (Years 7 and 8) students take Science as an integrated subject, taught by a single teacher from the Faculty. This means new students have a smaller number of teachers to get used to and gives more opportunity to get to know the students in these two years. From Form 4 (Year 9) upwards students are taught the sciences separately, overseen by the Heads of Physics, Chemistry and Biology. For GCSE, students may select either Combined Science or Triple Science, all of which follow the AQA GCSE specification.
Prior Park College offer excellent and supportive working conditions with an attractive rewards package to include free lunch and free onsite parking plus use of onsite gym.
Prior Park combines the very best of tradition and progress, with cutting-edge facilities and accommodation, including a pioneering digital learning programme. Classrooms are equipped with smart docks and large touch-displays, as well as traditional whiteboards, so teachers can exploit the best of both worlds to deliver the most inspiring lessons for our students.
