Health and Wellbeing Centre

The Centre provides proactive and holistic care for pupils’ physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

Our Health and Wellbeing Centre (HWC) provides Prior Park students with a modern and comfortable space where their physical, mental and emotional health is looked after through outstanding care and, crucially, proactive healthcare education.  We base all our wellbeing education around an initiative devised by our Upper Sixth Peer Mentors, Prior Park’s Six Pillars of Wellbeing: Activity, Sleep, Diet, Faith, Service, Kindness.

The HWC consists of a wellbeing room, counselling room, consultation and treatment room, and four beds to allow for ill or injured students to be looked after by the nursing team.

Qualified nurses provide physical and emotional care to cover a wide variety of health needs. The nursing team also provide a listening service for students. The HWC's opening hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 to 18:00 and Saturday 12:00 to 18:00. There is always a qualified nurse on site during these times.

Focus Counselling visit the school on set days to provide an independent counselling service. Students can access this through our self referral system or by talking to a member of the pastoral team.

The HWC utilises complementary therapies alongside more traditional ones. It also offers weekly relaxation sessions, provided by an external wellbeing coach, which enables students to have a quiet space during a busy school day.
