2020 Arkwright Scholar

This year we are proud to announce that Matthew Streets (L6 Roche) is our 2020 Arkwright Scholar.

To become an Arkwright Scholar you have been recognized as one of the most talented STEM students in the UK. STEM meaning Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. To become an Arkwright Scholar means you are one of the “best of the best!”

Scholars are selected for their potential as future engineering leaders by assessing their academic, practical and leadership skills in STEM. These are gauged through a rigorous 6 month selection process. This starts part way through your Upper 5 Year but you only become a scholar at the start of your sixth form studies. The selection process comprises of an assessed, UCAS style application form followed by a two-hour, problem-solving aptitude exam. If you get through all that you are then called to attend an all-day interview at one of the top engineering universities around the country.

From a pool of 30,000 eligible students from all over the UK and the growing number of British Overseas schools only 400 Scholarships were eventually awarded.

Arkwright Engineering Scholarships are highly regarded by the top universities and industry recruiters and are one of the most prestigious accolades that a talented sixth form student can receive.
