The Drama Department is extremely proud of its reputation for putting on productions of a high quality and maturity. In the last few years we have undertaken works by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Aeschylus, Berkoff, Beckett, Stoppard, Miller and many, many others. This year, the Drama Scholars’ Society, run by students, will become the new theatre company of the school, with students taking control and ownership of some of those productions, both as performers and as directors, technicians and backstage crew.

We also offer LAMDA gradings from grade 3 upwards, including Bronze, Silver and Gold. These qualifications are available for solo, duo and group performances in scripted and devising work.

The theatre and studio is also made available for candidates to prepare audition pieces for drama schools and university courses as well as summer schools with NYT and NYMT amongst others.

We invite professional guest speakers in to discuss their roles within the performing arts. Recent speakers have included the vice principal of Bristol Old Vic, National Theatre and Globe Theatre representatives, as well as former students who come back to school to explain their successful career paths within the performing arts.

Prior Park also offers opportunities for those who wish to learn more about the backstage work of productions, with work placements, local company liaisons and internal training in stage management, lighting and sound.
