11+ Curriculum
Years 7 and 8 at Prior Park College act as a crucial component in the transition from primary education to the Senior Houses. It fosters interest in a broad range of subjects and helps to shape students for their future in terms of their knowledge and study habits and in their ability to work as part of a team and find their unique place in our wider community.
Students follow a broad and dynamic curriculum and are offered a range of opportunities to encourage intellectual curiosity and engage with pupil interests. Pupils experience a range of lessons on top of their core provision of Maths, English, RE and Science. Humanities, Languages (Ancient and Modern), ICT and Product Design, Visual and Performing Arts and PSHCE are all taught by experienced and specialist teachers who encourage students to realise their full potential.
In addition, each group participates in our ‘Accelerated Reader’ programme in the library to foster broadening literacy and enabling student imagination to be widened through research.
An adapted curriculum is offered to our Elite Tennis players and those who have specific educational needs through our Learning Development Programme.
At Prior, we encourage student well-being through our pastoral programme and year group wide holistic offering; annual events for the Third Form include House plays, House Music, Debating, various sporting competitions and charities weeks. Our residential trips to Skern Lodge, Devon in Lower 3 (Year 7) and the Eden Project, Cornwall in Form 3 (Year 8) are loved by the students and offer them the opportunity to forge lasting friendships and learn essential skills of resilience and determination. This provision is all on top of a range of extra-curricular pursuits and scholar’s events.
