11+ Curriculum

Years 7 and 8 at Prior Park College play a vital role in bridging the gap between primary education and the Senior Houses. During this time, students develop a curiosity across a wide range of subjects while growing in confidence, enabling them to discover their strengths and find their place within the wider school community.
Curriculum
- Students follow a broad and dynamic curriculum and are offered a range of opportunities to encourage intellectual curiosity and engage with pupil interests. Pupils experience a range of lessons on top of their core provision of Maths, English, RE and Science. Humanities, Languages (Ancient and Modern), ICT and Product Design, Visual and Performing Arts and PSHCE are all taught by experienced and specialist teachers who encourage students to realise their full potential.
- In addition, each group participates in our ‘Accelerated Reader’ programme in the library to foster broadening literacy and enabling student imagination to be widened through research.
- An adapted curriculum is offered to our Elite Tennis players and those who have specific educational needs through our Learning Development Programme.
Beyond the Curriculum
- At Prior, we encourage student well-being through our pastoral programme and year group wide holistic offering; annual events for the Third Form include House plays, House Music, Debating, various sporting competitions and charities weeks.
- Our residential trips to Skern Lodge, Devon in Lower 3 (Year 7) and the Eden Project, Cornwall in Form 3 (Year 8) are loved by the students and offer them the opportunity to forge lasting friendships and learn essential skills of resilience and determination.
- This provision is all on top of a range of extra-curricular pursuits and scholar’s events.
