Schools' Fencing Championships

Congratulations to Louise and Amelia who represented Prior Park at the annual Public Schools Fencing Championships at Crystal Palace.

The sisters succeeded in making it through the first two rounds of the epee competition, each round involved fencing a poule of 5 other fencers, where they recorded wins against Bromsgrove, Millfield, Kings Canterbury, Wycombe Abbey, Guildford High, Godolphin and Latymer. In the direct elimination phase, Louise and Amelia fought really well but narrowly lost to fencers from higher ranked schools. In the Junior Championships, Louise was placed 17 out of 51 fencers, whilst Amelia was placed 25 out of 54 in the Mount-Haes Championships.

This was the first time Prior Park has entered a fencing team in the event which runs for 3 days and over 1000 fencers compete in 3 different blades - epee, foil and sabre. The College runs a fencing club for the younger members of the school and hopes to enter a team in the 2020 Championships.

Louise has also competed in the Senior Women's Welsh National Epee Championships where she was placed 7th - well done.
