Volunteering in Romania

In the first week of the summer holiday students are often keen to relax and let off steam. This summer a group of 19 dedicated U5 students gave up the first week of their holiday to volunteer for the charity 'people against poverty' in Romania.

During this trip Prior worked with a Hungarian pastor called Attila and teacher called Zozo.

Prior Park students worked alongside Romanians to build chicken coops and a poly tunnel. These will be used to provide food for after-school children's clubs and an orphanage development. It is hoped that a future farm on another site may be able to provide employment for some of the gypsy population, and income to support Attila's various programs.

At the end of the trip our students spent a night at a mountain hut, seeing some of the amazing sites that Romania has to offer. They could be sure that they had really earned their summer holiday!

Our thanks to Mr Anderson for organising the trip
