L6 D&T students have participated in their own 'enterprise challenge.'
Over the last six weeks, the students have worked in teams of three to develop a product made from recycled pallet wood. Each team was required to work through every aspect of the design and manufacture process: concepts, market research, costing, branding, prototypes, marketing and finished product.
This morning, each team, working under their 'company' name, presented their ideas and finished products to our Entrepreneur in Residence, Mr Anthony Dutton, and the College's Head of Creative, Mr Faulkner. The products were:
- a multi functional bread bin from 'Woodchef'
- a clock from 'Palletime'
- a convenient kitchen shelving unit from 'Kitchen Concepts'
- a sleek coat hanger from 'SLIM'
- a chopping and storage board from 'The Country Kitchen'
The standard was incredibly high with all teams showing a great understanding of the process required, coupled with fantastic technical and design skills.
