China In Their Hands

Our thanks to Mrs Little who came in to College today to speak with F4 Geography students studying China.

Mrs Little previously worked as a curator in the Oriental Antiquities department of the British Museum. She moved to Bath in 1997 to run the Museum of East Asian Art.

Mrs Little brought with her many fine examples of jade, earthenware, enamel, lacquering, porcelain and embroidery, some dating back to Neolithic periods. However, the item that seemed to receive the biggest reaction was a beautiful yet tiny silk shoe that had been made for an adult who had her feet bound.

Mrs Little's collection of artifacts coupled with her immense knowledge on China certainly brought the subject to life for our students.
