Our Sports Centre was officially opened by Jason Gardner (Olympic Gold Medallist and President UK Athletics) in November 2015 and pupils and staff alike are making the most of the amazing facility that houses a specialist PE teaching room, four badminton courts with capacity for tennis and netball, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, 5-a-side football and indoor hockey. A dedicated fitness centre with thirty state-of-the-art stations designed for fitness, strength & endurance training is also making an impression on our Academic and Curricular PE Programmes as well as our various training regimes.
The Prior Park PE Department aims to foster individual self-esteem and positive values such as sportsmanship, etiquette, teamwork and co-operation through the development of general and sport specific motor skills involving the development of agility, cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance and flexibility. Additionally we believe in giving every pupil the opportunity to participate in a variety of physical activities and experiences. We strive for excellence and would wish to assist everyone in realising their full potential. Physical Education and Sport aim to provide learning through Physical Activity, Observation and Analysis in both a theoretical and practical context.
The Prior Park College Academic PE Programme includes A Level PE, GCSE PE and Sports Leaders UK Level 1 (offered in F4/Year 9) and Level 2 (offered in L6/Year 12) Awards in Sports Leadership. Our Curricular PE Programme is currently delivered in Lower 3, Form 3 and Form 4 (Years 7, 8 and 9).
