Curriculum Overview

The academic curriculum is based around a two-week model with a 60 period allocation with lessons 55 minutes in length and a 5 minute movement break to ensure a prompt start and finish to lessons. Saturday morning provides further opportunity for independent supervised study time and activities.

The period allocation for each subject is shown below. Our Junior Baines House pupils take lunch ahead of senior pupils, with a range of activities being offered to these pupils during their extended lunch hour.

TAP = Thursday Afternoon Programme
* ITQ for IT users Year 7–9
– An accredited, skills based course by the Institute of Administrative Management using London Learning as our provider
– Students will gain a certificate which will be equivalent to a GCSE
– Work will be done online so working remotely is possible
– The five block model for the option blocks has been preserved allowing students to take up to five subjects at A Level. This model will allow for the introduction of Pre-U, BTEC at a later stage if this is considered prudent.
